My Au pair year

Dear everyone,

(1) just in case you havn't realised it yet: My English is far from perfect. I'm still improving. Please bear it so far ;)

(2) this blog is "just for fun". I've got a second blog, much prettier, with pictures, some more posts, suitable dates, (& German translation)...

But most important: please feel free to comment (English or German if possible, but Japanese or French is okay too) and enjoy yourself!

It started with a mail from CC and I called them - it was something about my flight day, if I'm fine with it. Just a few minutes later I got a mail from the office (means: this time in English ;) ):
Dear,
Greetings from the USA! We are happy to let you know that the * family would like to welcome you into their home as their au pair. They enjoyed reading your application and talking with you on the phone. We hope you are as excited as they are!
[...]
And I'm just: Of course, I am excited! Like hell! Gosh, I was a few minutes like just squeaking, then jumping... I even cried a bit out of happiness. It took about half an hour before I was able to call some friends - and of course grinning like I'm stupid.
Even thinking about it makes me smile a lot. They really want me! I've got such a great host family! Even now I'm a bit lost for words, so sorry for that.
Soon I will start with applying for my visa. I'll keep you up to date, guys. ;)

My first skype call from a host family! After two families passed by without any reponse or interest, finally I get to know to a wonderful family.
I passed the day with an Preparation Workshop in Nürnberg, which was really interessting. We were a little group of three au pairs and an represententative. After some "getting-to-know-each-other" workgroup and writing down our questions we started right away: what needs to be in out lugage, possible host presents, the first call with a potential host family - which was perfect preparation for my skype call in the afternoon! -, American and British English, the daily schedule, everything about college, driving an the USA and banking, communication. American values, insurance, shopping and some useful vocabulary. Very much to get to know to, a bit overwhelming, but really interesting!
And at 9pm (which is about 3pm at my host family) we had a call!
It was amazing. I liked them right form the start and listening to them was so relaxing (I was excited as h*ll). They are so friendly, openminded and lovely! We talked a little, asked and answered questiones - and I'm even now worried because I still have the impression that my English really (!!) lacked at this time... :*( - and the biggest, greatest surprise: I got to know to my host children! They are unbelievable cute and lovely. To be honest I just felt like hugging them ;)
Overall I really liked them from the start.

Besides, two days later I had a skype call with their current au pair. It was really interesting and I had a looot of fun, talking to her. We had a great chit-chat about this and that - which of course includes the family, her free time, the au pairs around (she said that there are soo many German au pairs!) and so on.

About searching and finding... Not only lost things are searched and sometimes found. It seems like the whole life is about searching and finding: Friends, Yourself, your Future. Who is your friend and who not? And who is a good friend?
Who are you? Your Character, your personality, your dreams and hopes, your fears.
Right now I finish school and the most important question is: Who will you be? What will you study? Just work on your future, set goals and try hard to reach them.
I want to be an Au pair in the U.S.A. for a year. Most of the people I konw just smiled. Maybe they don't believed in me. But I'm working at my application and hopefully I soon get started to get to know families like Angela from Orlando, Florida.

Happy new year 2014!
The year of my final exams, the year I want to start. Total change in some ways: Bye, bye school. It wasn't always easy, sometimes horrible but a lot of to get to know to, a lot of friends and people, a lot of exchange.
Bye, bye life I knew. Future will start soon...
But first of all: Hello stress and pressure - nice to meet you. Just feel comfortabte in my life but please don't put to much pressure to my heart and my head. I just want to have a good exam, yes?
